PRIMARY PROGRAMME

From treatment to recovery. Primary treatment constitutes the first 21 days in our substance abuse rehabilitation centre in South Africa.

Primary treatment is a short term residential rehab programme that provides intensive but relatively brief treatment based on a custom evidence-based 12-step therapeutic intervention.

This combined approach to addiction treatment and alcoholism recovery enables the addict or alcoholic to gain a new perspective and way of life that has proven to be effective well beyond the initial phase and establishes the foundation for recovery going forward.

7 WEEkS

SECONDARY PROGRAMME

From detoxification to reintegration. Secondary treatment thrusts recovery into action through 7 weeks of thorough addiction counselling and recovery coaching.

While building the foundation of recovery is crucial, setting recovery in motion is critical. Secondary treatment emphasises short term behavioural goals, individualised counselling and 12-step completion.

The programme teaches proven coping strategies and tools to help maintain abstinence in a safe and structured environment where recovery is achieved through reinforcement.

3 months

TERTIARY PROGRAMME

From lost to rediscovered. The tertiary programme uses the entire recovery continuum in a social context as active components of treatment and is intended for stays of 3 months.

Tertiary focuses on holistic therapeutic reconstruction from within a recovery community context that focuses on "re-socialisation", confronting damaging beliefs, self-concepts and destructive patterns.

Long term rehabilitation provides an opportunity to work on the underlying issues on a longer timeframe and aims to discover new, more harmonious and constructive ways to interact with others.

When I arrived at PRC Recovery I was scared, confused and still in denial that my addiction is a problem. After the first week I noticed while working on step work, attending sessions and also the AA/NA meetings, that I have hurt so many people, myself included. After completing step one and my life story, I realized that I can manage my addiction. I just need to be open-minded and willing to ask for help. Now that I am leaving, I feel comfortable to face the challenges outside, knowing that I am not alone.

It works if you work it, so work it you are worth it. It worked for me and it could work for you too. Sobriety gives me everything drugs and alcohol promised. When I arrived at PRC Recovery I learned more and gained more weight. I learned that I have a disease and if I ever use again I will end up dead, in jail or institutionalized. For me to stay clean, I need boundaries, I need to avoid my triggers at all cost as my recovery comes first and I do not want to die because of drugs. I want my son to have a sober father, someone he can look up to.

Walking dead! I walked into PRC Recovery with a bulk of desperation, guilt and shame. Spiritually and physically dead with the hope to have my life back, but how did that happen? It seemed impossible for me when trying to walk that way home. Once I started the NA program with open-mindedness and willingness, I began to believe in the change in my life.

Sticking with the winner's day by day I began to see the light in my recovery. I have found the power greater than myself, loving and caring, able to restore my life to sanity. I surrendered my life and decided to live to the guidance of that power which is the power of the NA program with trust and hope and faith. There started the dream about the possibilities of the change in my life, I thought that I will be dreaming forever but surely miracles was happening. One day clean only was evidence of change, the thinking was another one in my behaviour. I am grateful to all PRC recovery staff members for their effort that they have put together for the success of my recovery. From death to life today, I can really say "WE DO RECOVER". Thanks
