What inspired you to work in this field?

It chose me! I didn’t seek out working in this field. Let’s call it serendipity.

What motivated you to join the team?

The driving force behind my decision to join the team was the team's enthusiasm and unwavering belief in the program. I wanted to become part of something greater and contribute to its success.

What unique qualities or experience do you bring to your role?

Having lived through various stages of life, I offer a diverse perspective shaped by my encounters, challenges, and growth over the years.

What aspects of your job do you find most rewarding?

The aspect I find most rewarding is witnessing the growth of our clients. Seeing them progress, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals brings a profound sense of fulfilment. It validates our efforts and underscores the positive impact we have on their lives.

Memorable success story?

One of the most inspiring success stories I've witnessed is that of a client who initially came to us in denial about their addiction. Over the years, through dedicated support and treatment, they not only embraced their journey to recovery but also emerged as a beacon of hope for others in their community. Today, this individual stands as a testament to resilience and transformation, having remained clean for several years and even taking on a leadership role within Narcotics Anonymous.

What do you find challenging working in this field?

One of the challenges in this field is not to take it personally when a client decides to quit the program. It’s easy to question whether we have done everything we can.

What values or principles guide your approach to supporting the clients?

Acknowledging that there are forces beyond my control and relying on my spirituality, faith, or a greater sense of purpose to guide my actions. I strive to remain humble, compassionate, and open-minded in my interactions with clients. It allows me to approach each situation with patience, empathy, and a willingness to listen, recognizing that healing and growth often involve aspects beyond the purely physical or tangible.

What is your personal mission statement?

To create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel empowered to confront their challenges and embark on the path to recovery.

I love gardening, quilting, and baking.

Outside of work, what are some of your interests or hobbies?
