I came to accept that my disease has made my life unmanageable.

When I came to PRC Recovery my life was falling apart, relationships with my wife, my family, and at work were badly affected because of my drinking. Alcohol had taken over my life and I was powerless over it. Working on my step work with my dedicated recovery coach Onthene, I came to accept that my disease has made my life unmanageable. I had to surrender without any reservations, applying spiritual principles of honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness. I also attended counselling sessions where I was given tools on how to recover and live my life going forward. This program has helped me to discover myself, and my life purpose, and I got to believe that a power greater than myself can restore me to sanity. My relationship with my wife was also fixed via the family sessions. I did not only stop drinking but also worked on my relationships, attitude, and behaviour. I turned my will and my life over to the God of my understanding. I now have a new perspective on life.

Individual Counselling

For the very first time in my life, I had to open up and be honest to someone about how I really felt and also trust this person. Octavia did a marvellous job in unleashing the new Sim and also helped me with my wife, our relationship, and our marriage.

Group Counselling

I have learned very useful tools that I will be applying on my journey to recovery. I immensely enjoyed every session and left me wanting for more. I could not get enough of the groups presented. Thanks to all the facilitators.

Facility

The facility's location worked perfectly for me as I was far away from Johannesburg. This gave me the opportunity to focus on myself. It was very conducive to my recovery, I loved the trees, gardening, and mountain views.

Meals

I was grateful to have a meal at least three times a day, I can't really complain about the meals. Instead, I would like to compliment Megan's cooking skills. Also thanks to Uncle Louis for the effort he put into our meals.

Fellowship

Attending the NA/AA meetings in the centre gave me a kick start and helped along in me diligently attend meetings. I have learned a lot from the NA Fellowship, it is inspiring to learn from other people's experiences.

General

I would like to encourage the use of English to avoid any stereotypes from those who are not open-minded.

What Makes PRC Different?

I have learned HONESTY and I will be lying if I comment on this one as I have never been in rehab, so I have no basis or experience to compare how PRC Recovery is different. However, one thing I know is addicts such as myself do recover and I have come out very different, I changed from how I came in here. PRC Recovery's style worked for me and I have gotten out more than I bargained for, my relationship with my wife was fixed through the family sessions we had.
