I learned how to love myself and forgive myself.
Before I came to PRC Recovery I was cross-addicted from a very early age. From alcohol to painkillers. In the last couple of years I was addicted to schedule 6 medicines which were available to me freely. I took large quantities of tablets every night. Taking these tablets broke down my relationship with my family as well as friends. I isolated myself completely and cut ties with friends. It cost me my job at the end as well as the trust of my husband and children. Once I came to PRC Recovery I realized what damage I caused not only to my family but also to myself. I learned how to love myself and forgive myself. During all the steps I grew spiritually and got to know myself and how to deal with my addiction. I learned how to deal with my resentments and also all the amends I am left to make. Through working all the steps, from one to twelve, I managed to gain my sobriety. My Higher Power and the team at PRC Recovery made it possible. I do not have words to describe the whole journey, I am filled with gratitude. To the PRC Recovery team, I just want to say Thank You.
Individual Counselling
I feel that the counselling I had with Persty was very insightful and she was always open and willing to listen. Persty has a lot of compassion and is a wonderful social worker.
Group Counselling
All the group therapy sessions were very informative. I enjoyed every one of them and can apply it to my life constructively. All the presenters (facilitators) are well equipped to present the groups. They are all honest and straightforward. I appreciate that.
Step Work Counselling
I enjoyed step 1 to 12 tremendously. It has changed my whole outlook. With my coach Onthene I was able to complete every step by doing it thoroughly. What I appreciate about Onthene is that she is straightforward to the point, but also has a big heart. I cried on her shoulders many times and she has been there for me. Anyone who can have her as a coach can thank their lucky stars. My Higher Power has sent her on my path.
Facility
According to me the facility is great. It is a rehab centre, so one can not expect 5 stars. I am grateful I had a bed to sleep in and food to eat, as well as being able to take a hot shower. There is nothing more that one needs, it brought me back to earth.
Meals
I enjoyed all the meals. There is nothing to complain about. For myself the meals were well prepared and more than enough.
Fellowship
I enjoyed the Fellowship. The NA and AA meetings meant a lot to me. Every time I could learn from them and take something out of it which I could apply to my life. I even enjoyed the online meetings. There as well I found something to think about and apply it.
General
Generally PRC Recovery has made a difference in my life. If I had not been admitted here on the 21st of November 2021, I would most probably be dead by now. PRC Recovery has given me the hope and belief that I can live a life in sobriety. I am grateful for that.
