Patrick
recovery coach
What inspired you to work in this field?
I’m inspired to work in this field because I get to help others in meaningful ways. Being part of someone’s journey toward healing, growth, or positive change gives me a sense of purpose and fulfilment.
What motivated you to join the team?
I was drawn to Peace Recovery Centre because of the holistic approach to healing and the way the multidisciplinary team works together to provide individualised treatment. The focus on tailoring care to each person’s trauma experience deeply resonates with my values and passion for helping others.
What unique qualities or experience do you bring to your role?
I bring a balance of professional therapeutic skills and personal life experience. My training in CBT, DBT, MI, and trauma-informed care ensures I can provide evidence-based support, while my experience as a peer recovery coach helps me connect with clients on a deeper, more personal level. On top of that, I have chef skills, which I enjoy sharing in ways that promote wellness, creativity, and community.
What aspects of your job do you find most rewarding?
What I find most rewarding is walking alongside clients in their journey to healing. Seeing them gain hope, build resilience, and reclaim parts of their lives is deeply meaningful and reminds me why I do this work.
Memorable success story?
For me, success means restoring hope to the hopeless. I’ve witnessed people who once felt lost and without a future now living full and hopeful lives. Each of those journeys is memorable because they remind me that change is always possible.
What do you find challenging working in this field?
The most challenging aspect of this work is the lack of adequate support for mental health, especially for clients with dual diagnoses. This gap in resources makes recovery more difficult and often leaves clients underserved.
What values or principles guide your approach to supporting the clients?
My values come from both personal and professional sources. The spiritual principles of NA keep me grounded in compassion, honesty, and service. The trauma-informed care approach reminds me to always consider safety, dignity, and empowerment. And evidence-based therapeutic practices ensure that the support I offer is effective and tailored to each client’s needs.
What is your personal mission statement?
To provide holistic, trauma-informed, and evidence-based support that restores hope and promotes lasting recovery.
In my free time, I love experimenting in the kitchen and expanding my knowledge through ongoing study.
